- Hallucinations.
- provided the individual is not an imbecile. (sista)
- My life is a perpetual mystical experience :p I can't really describe it.....
- As you know ((((Kar)))) I had my Experience not that long ago, I do not see it as a gift, but more a realization. I was once a hardened militant Atheist, but I have always advocated a need for knowledge, this knowledge lead me to an understanding, one that I interpret as God, the day this fell into place I felt joy like I had never felt before, I was unable to restrain myself from smiling, The need to share this new belief and Joy brought me back to YA where I met you and other new contacts that have helped me understand even more. Silent Contemplation is where we find truth because the mind cannot think within the chaos
- A wonderful question. I believe that most of humanity goes through some form of life altering experience at some point in life. Some experience more than one. Few may never but then that is only because they were here to quickly serve their purpose and depart. Advanced spirits, if you will. What my opinion or belief behind all of this is, matters not. Nor does your or anyone else's except to those who experienced it directly. What I do know within my heart from my own experiences and those in whom I have been fortunate to have had them share with me, is that the "time" had come. As the old proverb states, "when the student is ready, the master will appear." I had mine in a most unexpected place - while driving home from work in traffic. I had been going through some intensive studies and meditations and had been going very deep into a particular practice to help rise above the fray of the world of illusion - Maya, as Hindu refers to it as. As clearly as someone sitting next to me would've sounded, a voice... very clear, very distinct and with absolute confidence/ wisdom said, "Nothing can be taken that which is not freely given." It was such a revelation considering where I was at this point in my life. So much about the world, about people... about Life itself at its truest core began to make sense. But not in just a logical manner. I felt it in my heart of hearts. It was a truth beyond logic and surrendering to it was effortless and to be honest, to do otherwise was simply & completely unconscionable. Who knows why these events occur. I can only presume that we must. We are, after all, only here to learn, to experience. Perhaps, the meaning of Life as complicated as Life seems to be, is just about the simplicity of it all. Perhaps Life is only meant to be LIVED. I certainly hope so. ;-) Blessings
- My opinion is that we can go through life without ever experiencing this. It seems to me we only receive mystical experiences when we need them for a special message. to bring a special realization or purpose to our lives usually like in my case because we have not fulfilled our potential. I enjoyed Robs answer but for me it never took me beyond logic, it took logic to a higher plane and took me with it. .
- Very interesting question. I have had more than one, but they have principally raised my level of consciousness intellectually. More than once I have found myself in situations of overwhelming experience, wel away from any apparent mundane cause. They appeared to come with attached clear meaning character or interpretation. Questioning them was literally unthinkable. It simply did not occur as something that might be done. However, the real epiphany in each instance came a little later when, and in both instances purely by happenstance, I was faced, with even more boulder-dropping force, with evidence that I had been mistaken. Not in the raw experience. But in my understanding of it, in my instant interpretation and assigning of meaning to it. If I had not had the second experiences, hard revelations, I would have been a firm, even fervent believer in the mystical ones. It was somewhat chastening to realise a lot of things can produce "a heart strangely warmed", and that something that seems miraculous may not be, and that the strength of an experience is no assurance of its nature. I really would wish it otherwise, I think.
- Yes, a mystical experience definitely raises the consciousness level of the being, because it involves the spiritual realm of universal existence that lies above the mind and is thus beyond the perception of the human mind. I am an agno-myst and I do not believe in God or Holy spirit or any deity, but I have undergone certain experiences which are still beyond the understanding of my mind and the logic. These experiences occurred as a result of my spiritual practices and I owe these experiences to the ultimate existential truth or the absolute consciousness, which I believe is nameless, formless, infinite, one and the same everywhere. I have mentioned one such experience in detail in my yahoo blog and profile that can be viewed through view pulse option.
- I had a dream where I was standing on a sunny, green hill and maybe 20yds away was Saint Francis. He looked at me and nodded. It was amazing.
