Why do people believe in tarot card readings?
Why do people believe in tarot card readings? Is it because of their culture or religion? Is their any psychological reason why people might believe in tarrot cards? Eg. Depression? Why? Why do people have the tendacy to believe in Tarot Cards? Thanks Ps. This is out of curiosity, not being dis-respectful to anyone who believes in tarot cards!

- i don't believe it that shyt
- People believe in all kinds of woo. It's ashamed that often the only thing they refuse to believe in is scientific facts.
- Because it is possible to give a reading that does indeed offer them helpful insights. It's not magic, but a set of symbols that organizes the experiences of life into a coherent pattern. People who forget that it's the reader who gives the analysis but attribute some supernatural quality to the cards are often disappointed.
- Fortune telling cards give people comfort about the future . It is based on chance and on a larger scale our lives are determined by seemingly insignificant events. I believe people who do this are usually somewhat fearful about what might happen and so they try to avoid it by being prepared by Tarot, I Ching or Rune Casting. Some just can't stand to be in the moment so it is an escape for them to run the cards or cast the stones.
- Have you seen children play with wooden cube playing blocks with letters and pictures on them. It is sort of the same thing. Jung wrote about the symbolism that the cards represent. For instance #16 The Tower would neatly sum up the events in Japan. There is a group in walking through the forest, who only use the cards for conversation. AS for the asking of money, for predicting the future, that is something else again.
- It feeds something in the ego of such people.Like the afterlife idea?
- I have been a Tarot reader for a while now and I can say its from my own personal experience. But Its good to see people that question things. And I would say to you spend some time around the card and see what you think. There is lots of places to get free readings on the web. Also maybe get your own deck and play around a bit. I have my own theory on the matter if your interested you can check it out on my blog. In my blog I link the Tarot to Quantum Entanglement http://www.ritarot.com/apps/blog/show/6280582-tarot-quantum-entanglement Hope that helps, and Never stop questioning the known world
- It really depends on what that person believes as far as what they expect tarot to be capable of. I don't believe tarot can predict the future. I do believe that tarot is a useful tool for delving into problems and getting perspective. This belief stems from my understanding of and experience with the human brain and the use of symbolism, psychology, religion and magick. It also comes from a certain aesthetic sensability. You might as well ask why musicians feel that music is important or why people like looking at beautiful paintings. Some may claim that our sense of aesthetics stems from evolutionarily advantagous adaptions... seeing beauty in a tree may draw us to safer ground and protect us from preditors. Seeing beauty in a lake may call us towards fertile lands where we may find higher nutrition and therefore thrive physically etc. I'm not sure. I cannot speak for why other people believe what they do about tarot cards. -Scarlet
