no arguments really!!!!!!! but is getting Eve outta Adams rib a symbol for something or its mystical?

- I think it's a figurative way of a patriarchal society saying to women your rightful status is to be subservient to men.
- I believe it just symbolizes that woman is a part of man which means that she should submit to him since she wouldn't exist without him. I don't necessarily follow that, but I think that's what it means. Remember, God pulled Eve from Adam's rib because he knew he would be attracted to and love her since she was a part of his own body.
- The rib your talking of was a bone taken from Adam's side, not His foot for Her to be below Him, not the head for Her to be above but BY HIS SIDE, sin changed that for the present but Jesus [see Heb.1:5-9, Heb. 13:8, John 8:58 and John 1 for Jesus being God] made Her to stand by His side and in the earth made new that will be the case once again, find out more free bible lessons www.amazingfacts.org email me also wgr88@yahoo.com God bless
- Feminine and masculine are two parts of the same thing. The creation is of the creator, but comes from it. We have been separated from One into "twin flames" male and female, each with a certain general role to perform to pass our tests and manifest the true nature of each part. We each have masculine and feminine within us, the feminine is receptive to the action of the masculine. We change these roles in male and female relationships, but it seems to me that a 60/40 balance works best. &&& And that is why Lilith didn't work out as Adam's wife. Believe me, it's just as difficult to play the masculine properly as it is to play the feminine properly. &&&&&&&&&&&& To learn this may be the reason so many are single parents now. It worked for me.
- god made adam [as equal] god wasnt enough for him he wanted a mate like the beasts thus she cloned him [throwing away that trouble some ''t'' chromosone to give him his sister [just as the beasts knowing in time his childrens children would see his shame
- First documented case of cloning, the use of DNA and stem cells. The Ol' Hippie Jesus Freak Grace and Peace Peg
- what is even a better question-if we arent allowed to sleep with our sisters and brothers-why did god create eve from adam-isnt that basically the same thing-his DNA is in her.hmmmmmm LOL
- Symbolical, but it is not sure what it would have meant. Don't forget that the rib is only one of the bible genesis stories. The other one has them both made out of dirt at the same time. The sybology of this story might have made sense to the early iron age people who created it. They lived in a patriarchal Kingdom. Maybe they put that part in to make up for blaming Eve for causing all the trouble in the world by eating the apple.
- Acording to the full myth, at first God made man and woman at the same time, both from clay. They were Adam and his first wife, Lilith. God instructed Lilith to obey Adam, and she refused. She said "were were made the same, or the same clay, at the same time, so why should I obey him?" So God banished Lilith from Eden, where she became a Daemon. Then, God made Eve from Adam's rib, so Eve would be nothing more than a part of Adam, dependent on him and obedient to him. .... It's just one more reason no woman in her right mind should believe any of this crap.
- It is an allegory. It may also be true, in the physical sense. Adam may have been a leader, in an antidelvian society. Eve may have been that society. If that group, or religous congregation was subverted by someone from outside, it may have collapsed, like Rome, Egypt, etc. In fact, Eden may have been Egypt, or Babylon... The Bible is full of examples of how God calling people out of a decadent society, and into a better place, usually across a river. But what the heck, I can make up at least three allegories, out the song, 'Puff the Magic Dragon'.
- Isn't it emphasizing the purpose with marriage? That the two shall become one flesh! This is what God wanted them to feel like by doing things that way.
- The analogy is: The Spiritual bride of Christ being created from the water and blood which came from Jesus side on the cross. PEACE...
- That was the marriage ceremony.
- I attach a version of Genesis which I consider to be very beautiful. It depicts the creation of man and woman at precisely the same moment - when woman was taken from the 'earth creature' man was left - neither existing separately before the other. This removes any question of precedence or superiority but presents us with a wonderful equality of personhood. An act worthy of God - For hā-ādām read 'earth creature' and for hā-’adāmā read 'earth'. nephesh = spirit GENESIS 2:7-24 The First Account of Creation And Yahweh God formed hā-ādām [of] dust from hā-’adāmā and breathed into its nostrils the breath of life and hā-ādām became a living nephesh. And Yahweh God planted a garden in Eden in the east and put there hā-ādām whom he had created. (2:7-8) And Yahweh God caused to grow from hā-’adāmā every tree pleasant to see and good to eat – the tree of life in the midst of the garden [and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.] A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden and there it divided and became four rivers…. And Yahweh God took hā-ādām and put it in the garden of Eden to till and to keep it. And Yahweh God commanded hā-ādām saying: From every tree of the garden you may surely eat but from the tree of knowledge of good and evil you may not eat, for when you eat of it you will surely die. (2:9-10, 15-17) And Yahweh God said, “It is not good for hā-ādām to be alone I will make for it a companion corresponding to it.” And Yahweh God formed from hā-’adāmā every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought [each] to hā-ādām to see what it would call each one. And whatever hā-ādām called each living nephesh, that was the name. And hā-ādām called the names of all domestic animals and the birds of the heavens and all the beasts of the field. But as for ’ādām, it did not find a companion corresponding to itself. And Yahweh God caused a deep sleep to fall upon hā-ādām And, while it slept, took one of its ribs And closed up flesh at that spot. And Yahweh God built the rib Which he took from hā-ādām into woman and brought her to hā-ādām. And hā-ādām said: This, finally, bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh. This shall be called woman [’iššâ] because from man [’îš]was taken this. There, a man [’îš] leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his woman [’iššâ] and they become one flesh. (2:18-24)
- The Bible does say they God actually took a rib from Adam to form Eve. It is a symbolism of the marriage vow. It shows us that when we marry someone the 2 shall become one.
- Scientist have learned how to clone an animal. Who would have thought that was possible not too long ago? Maybe science just hasn't caught up yet with the knowledge of God.
- it's not a multiple choice (pick-and-choice book the bible). People want to choose what they like ,dislike,or whatever. Please read: 2 Tim 3:(16) 2 Peter 1:16-21 2 Peter 3:(15-16) Romans 4:3 John 5:20-47 Acts 17:10-12
