Is going to a fortune teller purely for fun a sin?

My friend and I were considering going a fortune teller while we were on vacation just for fun and to try something new, but we've been confused about whether or not it would be considered a sin. We know that seeing a psychic and messing with supernatural is supposedly satanic and obviously bad, but what about a fortune teller? We're not concerned about it being a scam or whatever since its just for laughs, but we're both Catholic and I'm nervous about doing anything that would go against my beliefs.

  1. no
  2. You might pay the consequences for having the wrong fun.
  3. How about *not* going because they're lying con-artists out to relieve you and the gullible of your money...
  4. Fortune tellers just want money, its all for fun.
  5. Religion is stupid so I would not worry about it. Have fun and live your life please. You really think the spacedaddy upstairs would hate every single person that would ever see someone who "can" tell you your future? *noooooo, I am god and you saw a guy who can tell the future, now you cant come into my special magical happy kingdom. nananananaaannaaa* (sounds crazy huh).
  6. fyi..... you guys are fooling yourselves. no one goes "just for fun" once they hear whatever the person says because it sticks with you. yes it is against Christianity for reading fortune's is "magic". i would recommend using that money on something that will last longer and be a much better memory!
  7. The Old Testament name for Fortune Teller was "seer" And Yes, using a "seer" was considered a sin. It may be "just for laughs", but it DOES make a connection between you and the occult, and opens you up to possible demon possession. Since going to a fortune teller is a sin, there is a "crack" in your armor, and that little opening makes it possible for demons to enter and possibly possess. THAT is NOT funny! STAY AWAY FROM THE FORTUNE TELLERS!!!
  8. Sounds to me like your conscience is getting to you. It might not be a sin, but if you're having doubts, perhaps you shouldn't go. You never know what emotional impact it might have on you afterward.
  9. I would not recommend it. Even though it seems like innocent fun, it can still be dangerous to do as you are still opening a door you do not ever want to open. Fortune Tellers still use magic and so I would not recommend it. It is still considered a sin regardless of the reasons for going.
  10. abstain from all appearances of evil. what would it say about your testimony? if a lost person sees a Christian in a place like that, what does it tell them? a good rule is this: if you wouldn't take Jesus there, or you wouldn't do it in front of Jesus-then it's not good.
