Mystical Angels

Why is swimming in a pool with Dolphins a spiritual and healing event?

The weekend paper had another picture of some local retarded kid whose parents and friends raised money for him to swim with dolphins somewhere in Florida. I often read bits and pieces of injured, disturbed and disabled people putting their kids in pools to swim in the same water as a fish and gain some benefit from the experience.. What magical powers does a dolphin possess? Do mainstream religions approve of this?

  1. Dolphins sleep with one eye open
  2. Did your computer magically create this satire?
  3. I swam with dolphins at Sea World. While I DID have injuries (more than a papercut) and they WERE fascinating, I was not healed at all afterward.
  4. 'cause the dolphins make me cry ---- Hootie
  5. It isn't. It's all down to power of suggestion
  6. I'm frightened of dolphins. I would pee in the pool from fright.
  7. Keeping a dolphin cooped up like that is arguable cruel and sadistic. Putting a kid in with dolphins is negligent and dangerous, because dolphins, like humans can be cruel and sadistic, and ones cooped up in tanks are more likely to be neurotic and poorly adjusted.
  8. It's not magical at all. Folks are supposed to exercise in water when they have ailments such as arthritis. Dogs, llamas, and other animals are used for children as well as adults for calming effects. I myself calm when Im upset by being with my animals. Dancing is a great stress reliever. Dolphins not only are fascinating, gets the child's mind to focus, and the water therapy is great too. I have also had one on one with the dolphins. Awesome....(and expensive)
  9. the child does the healing, not the dolphins. Many people like to meet and swim with dolphins, even "retarded" kids. So, by fulfilling that dream, it completes another check off of the children's to-do-list. I would like to swim with dolphins and I find them very calming too.
  10. They posses the power of being adorable, despite their serrated teeth and pitch black eyes.
  11. Well when you stick your toe in the ocean there are all sorts of dangerous animals in the vastness of the sea including Plankton, the Ghost of Blackbeard and the Somali pirates.
  12. Something about the healing aspect of water along with interacting with another sentient creature not of human ilk. Its a nice experience, that's all, and it's kind of stimulating in kind of a happy way. I don't know. Animals are so non-judgmental and accepting. I personally think dolphins should not be confined, but that's just me.
  13. Dolphins are almost magical in their ability to locate objects and move in their environment. They've been a good omen for thousands of years because they actually keep sharks away. They're just creatures that seem to know how to have a good time, even if it involves humping a human.
