Do Major Arcana Tarot Cards really reflect on the person's personality?

I'm just wondering because me and some friends tried it and the cards we got really reflected on our personalities. Like I got the card Emperor and when I read what it meant, I saw that it really reflected accurately about me.

  1. They're like horoscopes, just vague enough to apply for everyone. There was a college experiment where the teacher handed everyone a sealed letter that was supposed to contain their personality. Almost everyone agreed their letter was correct. Then everyone was asked to read their letters out loud, and they were all exactly the same.
  2. I think they just represent the major milestones in life, or rather stages in life. I.e. Fool when we are young and foolish. Magician & High Priestess: Balancing forces, material world. Empress and Emperor: Mum and Dad Hirophant: Authority Lovers: Love etc
  3. The major arcana apply to everyone. They are themes that seem to describe universal experiences for everyone... Everyone has an Empress, Emperor and Heirophant in their lives... everyone rides The Chariot and finds their Hermit. Everyone faces Justice and their inner Devil etc. One card can only give you a partial description of yourself at one moment of time. Draw again and you'll see that the next card you draw will be just as reflective of you as the Emperor seemed to be. It's relative and changes from moment to moment. They're interpretive, not hard-and-fast. Use your intuition. -Scarlet
  4. Hello Kenneth The Major Arcana represent archetypal images, major forces present with life, person or a situation at the time of questioning. Pam
  5. I see the court cards as being more representative of different personality types. The Major Arcana can usually apply to anyone, however not everyone can fit the more complex personality traits that are often associated with the court cards.
