Why is swimming in a pool with Dolphins a spiritual and healing event?

The weekend paper had another picture of some local retarded kid whose parents and friends raised money for him to swim with dolphins somewhere in Florida. I often read bits and pieces of injured, disturbed and disabled people putting their kids in pools to swim in the same water as a fish and gain some benefit from the experience.. What magical powers does a dolphin possess? Do mainstream religions approve of this?

4. I did swim with dolphins once. He knocked me right on my butt. lol In my opinion there's nothing healing or spiritual about it.
5. It's not supposed to heal them or anything lol. It's just something that the kids will like to do, like a once in a lifetime thing before they die or whatever.
6. Dolphins aren't fish! They are, however, smart, immensely strong, instinctual and some times brutal creatures. It would make me nervous to swim with Dolphins. I do, however, want to be a Killer Whale in my next life, then I'll be comfortable swimming with Dolphins.
