What is a reversal and a significator?
Please help. I went to http://www.facade.com/tarot/ to get a free tarot card reading and it asks e to check mark these as options. I became confused snce I do not know what these terms mean. Can I pick neither or both, much less one or the other? I think a reversal has to do with the card being rightside up or or upside down. In the deck I use I do not believe it matters what the orientation of the card is. I always make sure all the card are facing the same direction.

- The significator is the card whose characteristics match up with you. When you select that, you be presented with a screen showing all of the cards in the deck. Read the descriptions and pick the one you think best represents you.
- You are right... they don't matter and also, reversal is about whether it's upside-down or not. Significators are cards that are selected to indicate a starting position of the seeker. IT can be selected based on gender (ie: chose the Magicigan if you are a man and the High Preistess if you are a woman) zodiac sign (ie: chose the Chariot if you are Cancer, Justice if you are a Libra etc) or some other specific method. It can also be drawn at random. The significator is optional (as is reading "Reversed" cards.) I use neither. I don't chose a significator. To me, that is redundant... the seeker is right in front of me and the seeker represents the seeker, not the card... plus, it removes a card from the deck that may be useful in the reading other places. I don't read reversed... I think there is enough meaning in 78 cards that reversed meanings just complicate matters too much. I'm not sure about the site, but I wouldn't select either of them. -Scarlet
