Which way do you read the tarot cards when reading someone else?

For example, say you're sitting across from that person and facing you, the card is upside down. Would you read it right side up for them or upside down facing you...very confused. thanks

  1. Right side up for them, of course. Otherwise most of their cards would be upside down and that would be a little unsettling imo.
  2. Did you know that sorcery will not inherit you the Kingdom of God when you die. I say you throw them in the trash and pick up the Bible.
  3. It doesn't matter, because tarot card reading is a complete fraud. There is no truth to it at all.
  4. I read them the way I see them. I am the reader. I read left to right then up to down.
  5. There is no right or wrong way to read Tarot cards. I have found from personal experience that if you state aloud (or even to yourself) the direction in which you will interpret the cards then you're subconscious will adjust to suit the way you want to flip the cards. For example if before you started the reading, you stated, "Upright cards, will face me, Reverse cards will face the person for whom I am reading," it will be so. Also if the idea of reading reversed cards makes you uncomfortable you can also say something like,"I am not using reverse cards during this reading," and once again your subconscious will adjust to suit your statement. That does not mean reverse cards will not appear but it sort of acts as a fail safe so any card that appears will be correct in terms of its upright meaning. Hope this helps!
  6. IT's a personal choice. When I started reading, I liked my seeker to be able to appreciate the cards, so I would deal them so that the bottom of the cards were towards my seeker. Now I feel as though I want to admire my cards and also I find that the artwork is meant to be viewed right-side up and so lends itself to interpretation easier if I can see the artwork as it's meant to be seen, so now I deal the cards with their bottom edges towards me. I rarely, if ever, read cards "revered"... that is, if my seeker shuffles the deck in a manner that causes the cards to mingle right-side-up and upside-down, I turn any upside-down cards back right-side-up when reading them unless I get an intuitive signal to read it reversed. That's just another personal choice I made about my reading style. -Scarlet
  7. I believe that as you are the reader, the cards should be facing you, as you're the one that needs to get the message from them. However, having said that, each reader will develop their own style; no 2 readers will read in the same way. I have been reading the tarot for almost 17yrs, and trust me, anyone can do it. It's all about developing your own style and rapport. The other person cannot read the cards, that is why they have come for a reading. They look to you for the answers, not the cards. If they see, for example the Death card facing them, how does this help them as Hollywood and popular culture have instilled a fear of this card, when there is nothing to fear. So yes, my answer is have them facing you and you interact with the person who requires the reading.
